If you’re a fan of director Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings films, and you’re anything like me, you’ve probably already purchased several versions of them on disc. Personally, I own the original Theatrical Cut DVDs, plus the Extended Edition DVD sets, and also the Limited Edition DVDs (with their added Costa Botes documentaries). On top of that, I have the Theatrical and Extended
I'll be honest dude, if you're watching the films for the first time, go with the theatrical. The extended versions are great, but are kinda daunting to new watchers, and they delve deeper than necessary for a first viewing. Watch the theatrical editions, and if you enjoy them, watch the extended versions on your second viewing.
Lord of the Rings 4K vs HDX. I own the HDX release of Lord of the Rings Extended Edition. It is essentially the bluray edition before the remaster color corrections from 2020. The 4K remaster version is on sale now for $17.99 for the upgrade. My question is, if you own the 4k remaster and then stream the HDX or lower, are you streaming the
"The Return of the King," which took in over $1.1 billion at the box office when it was released, is even better when you watch the extended editions. That's my opinion as a Tolkien fan, yes, but| Сочо чሐзи ξуጲωгθз | Еշ ሂεφефል ኙоγев |

I think the extended versions are pretty overrated. Yea, there’s some neat stuff in there but it doesn’t really add anything important and really makes the movies drag. edit: of course, I highly recommend watching this trilogy on the big screen, extended edition or not.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is a miracle of filmmaking. Peter Jackson took one of the most beloved books in the history of Western literature, and New Line Cinema took a ridiculous gamble
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - The Extended Edition includes a new transfer of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which was remastered from the original 2k digital files, and it all comes in multi-disc elite packaging inside a premium rigid slipcase. NOTE: It was announced that a 4K UHD “Middle-earth” Ultimate Collectors’ Edition featuring the theatrical and extended versions of all six films, along with new bonus content, previously released Blu-ray discs of The Hobbit Trilogy, and remastered Blu-ray discs of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy will be released in the summer of 2021. TheThe Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies. The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring. The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers. The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King. One does not
Everything looks so soft and devoid of detail. As an example, look at Faramir's face when he's conversing with Pippin towards the end of the first disc of the Extended Edition of the Return of the King (right before Pippin swears fealty to Denethor). His face is so without detail and soft. You can't see the pores on his face or anything like that.
Technically the badly named "Ultimate Collector's Edition" does have that one extra special features disc, but yeah, it's disappointing. Currently the 2011 Lord of the Rings Extended Edition box set (and reprintings thereof) is still the best Blu ray release for LOTR. The "Middle Earth Collection" set is also good for containing all the same .
